No matter how many Voluspa candles we burn (that’s the secret amazing scent in our office), we can’t get rid of that moldy smell. What happened, you ask? Well during the torrential storm that our friends at Oliver’s Arrow (upcoming DiCaprio film “Inception”) brought this last weekend, water filled the west walls. Sooo gross. Luckily we’re dealing with pros at Warner Brothers and the whole thing will be drilled, opened, aired, patched and painted before next Tuesday’s Rooftop Comedy Night. Come check it out!! If it still smells (but it won’t) not to worry, Comedy Night is always on the rooftop against the stunning background of Downtown LA, as always free and BYOB!!

As many of you know, LoftSEVEN hosted an exhibition last week during Art Walk, just as we have for months now. And we absolutely love celebrating Art Walk at LoftSEVEN. It’s a chance for us to be a part of the community, show off some great art and welcome “non-downtowners” to our amazing neighborhood. However, each Art Walk has been a challenge for us. Every time, a few bad apples seem to ruin it for all! We’ve had random guests wander the halls of the Haas Building, knocking on doors, peeing in stairwells, ripping mezuzahs off the walls, breaking elevators, pulling fire alarms or tagging graffiti. So not cute! It boggles my mind how some people can be so disrespectful when invited into someone else’s home (mind you, folks–the owner of the building lives here!).

In always putting our residents first at the Haas Building, this event has made the second Thursday of the month lots of fun for some, but a pain in the ass for more than a few (as this Downtown News story attests for the larger downtown community as a whole). Because of that, we have decided that after four months of trying and wishing for something better, we’ve made the ever so difficult decision to take a break for a while. It’s a real bummer, but we haven’t forgotten you, Downtown. We’ve still got the Sunday Sample Sale, Rooftop Comedy and Movie Nights for major fun with friends, and, as always, they’re free for all!

Hope to see you soon!
Josh Gray-Emmer
